X ray tech radiation exposure11/19/2023 ![]() ![]() As a result the population radiation burden is high. Because of the technological advancement added to the clear benefit to the examined individuals, the frequency of CT examinations is increasing worldwide and the types of examination using CT are also becoming more numerous. In UK, CT was reported to contribute to 47% of the collective dose from diagnostic radiology, but representing only 9% of all X-ray examinations. The United Nation Scientific Committee on Effect of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR) reported that on average for countries in Health-care level I, CT represents 6% of all diagnostic medical x-ray examinations but accounts for 41% of the total population radiation dose. Radiation protection in computed tomography (CT) deserves special attention since CT is by far the largest contributor to patient radiation exposure in diagnostic radiology. Radiation protection, Computed tomography, Dose optimization strategies Current review provides updated radiation protection measures for minimizing patient radiation dose in CT without adversely affecting the quality of diagnostic information. CT users are strongly encouraged to take advantage of these dose reduction techniques while maintaining diagnostic image quality. Patient dose reduction of 40-60%, 50%, 20-30%, 20-40%, 30-50% can be achieved using tube current modulation, beam filters, thyroid and breast shields, low tube voltage for abdominal CT, automatic pitch adaptation respectively. Radiation protection in CT requires regular dose surveys and optimization of CT exposure parameters, establishing and/or implementing diagnostic references (DRLs), implementation of a comprehensive quality assurance program, reference dose levels, and CT dose saving protocols. The aim of this study was to evaluate radiation protection techniques in computed tomography (CT) scanning, address concerns on the increased population exposure during CT procedures, and provide a review on dose management and optimization procedures. Virtual definition11/19/2023 ![]() It is also the technology that drives cloud computing economics. Today, virtualization is a standard practice in enterprise IT architecture. It follows that virtualization enables more efficient utilization of physical computer hardware and allows a greater return on an organization’s hardware investment. Each VM runs its own operating system (OS) and behaves like an independent computer, even though it is running on just a portion of the actual underlying computer hardware. Virtualization uses software to create an abstraction layer over computer hardware that allows the hardware elements of a single computer-processors, memory, storage and more-to be divided into multiple virtual computers, commonly called virtual machines (VMs). We've also compiled a list of the best virtual and augmented reality headsets for schools, which shows the options out there and can give you an idea of pricing.Virtualization is a process that allows for more efficient utilization of physical computer hardware and is the foundation of cloud computing. One leading name is Discovery Education, who offers a good example of augmented reality with their new app that was featured at Bett 2022. Since Apple introduced software advances that make building virtual reality easier this has grown massively in education. That's not as immersive, but certainly classes as a virtual reality experience. Think Google Earth, in which you can explore the planet virtually by panning and zooming about. There are also apps that offer virtual reality experiences on phones and tablets without the need for a headset. Most also now have their own software, compatible with others, which allows teachers to manage the experience of the class and gain access to lots of educational apps and games. There are now companies that specialize in providing kits with enough headsets for an entire class. ![]() Getting virtual reality into schools consists of two main parts: the access to virtual reality headsets themselves and the software required to run it all. (Image credit: KatarzynaBialasiewicz) How can schools get virtual reality? This can include history lessons taught in the Oval Office, virtually, or among the planets for astronomy. The Optima Academy charter school in Florida provides its 1,300 students with Oculus VR headsets to participate in virtual lessons. This goes further with some schools actually setting up virtual classrooms that children can visit remotely. ![]() The uses for VR extend into a variety of subjects, however, for science, for example, students could visit the stars or carry out virtual lab experiments safely using digital versions of the real thing but that react in the same way. But it goes further as this can also go beyond time, allowing a class to go back and visit an ancient city that's now gone, for example. Instead, students and teachers can slip on VR headsets and all go on a tour together. This can mean visiting a location, anywhere in the world, without the usual issues of cost, transport, waiver forms, and even crowds to worry about. One of the most powerful ways to show off virtual reality in schools is to take virtual tours. ![]() ![]() (Image credit: Viar360) How can virtual reality be used in education? With a global value at $6.37 billion back in 2021, which should reach $32.94 billion in 2026, it's clear this is a fast-growing area that's going to mean big changes in education long term. Since then, virtual reality has had lots of funding thrown at it by big name companies, universities, and technology brands. This works with smartphones, allowing students and teachers to easily and affordably experience VR. One of the big factors in this relatively recent uptake was Google Cardboard, which used a super affordable cardboard phone holder with lenses built in to create virtual worlds. While virtual reality has been used widely for gaming it's also now being used in work-based training and, more recently, in education. The makes for a very immersive view that is coupled with motion sensors so when you move your head the view changes, just as in the physical world. By placing the displays close to the eyes, usually in a headset, it allows the person to feel as if they're looking at a giant screen, close-up. ![]()

Murder on middle beach rd11/19/2023 ![]() ![]() Moreover, allowing the public access to cold case files after an appropriate period of time is far more likely to improve the odds of an arrest and successful prosecution than it it is to prejudice that outcome.” The old adage about a ‘fresh pair of eyes’ is particularly apt. “However, when law enforcement has effectively exhausted all efforts to arrest and prosecute a suspect, and when the statistical data show that the probability of a prosecution resulting from long-unsolved cases approaches zero, it is difficult to understand how denying public access to criminal investigation files in perpetuity serves the public interest in solving crimes and bringing perpetrators to justice. “There are strong public policy reasons for denying the general public unfettered access to investigation files, while the police are actively investigating a crime and continuing to collect new evidence and pursue new leads,” Klau wrote in his decision. Klau reviewed the case and found in August that the police department cannot use the mere “theoretical possibility” of a future law enforcement action to keep the investigative files secret but conceded there is little precedent for how investigators or the FOIC should determine what constitutes such a future action. ![]() In late December, Niemeyer filed another complaint with the FOIC over the missing records, and the department responded by appealing the commission’s original order to release any of the documents in the first place. Weeks of back-and-forth ensued as the show premiered on HBO. A list of additional records submitted to the court includes surveillance video, recordings of specific voicemails, non-police tape-recorded conversations and copies of items seized from Barbara Hamburg’s bedroom safe. The department did turn over two full boxes of documents to Hamburg and Niemeyer in October 2020, but the filmmakers alerted investigators in early November that dozens of files were apparently missing from those records. The commission ruled in August 2020 that because the department could not identify any specific “prospective law enforcement action,” they had to turn the documents over to the filmmakers, court records show. A hearing was held in February 2020, where Detective Christopher Sudock testified on behalf of the department that the release could jeopardize a “prospective law enforcement action,” such as a search or arrest warrant, but could not identify any specific actions investigators had planned. The filmmakers appealed to the state’s Freedom of Information Commission, which reviews public records disputes. In 2019, Madison Hamburg and Niemeyer requested the department’s investigative files under the state’s public records law, but the department refused, claiming the case remains an open and ongoing investigation. ![]() The episodes also addressed skepticism about the police department’s initial investigations and even included surreptitious recordings of Madison Hamburg’s discussions with detectives at the department. The series examined the Hamburg family’s relationships in the wake of Barbara’s death and focused on suspicions both the police and family had about her husband and Madison’s father, Jeffrey Hamburg. The resulting documentary series was picked up by HBO, and the four-part “Murder on Middle Beach” premiered late last year. ![]() In 2016, he began to film a project reviewing the circumstances around his mother’s death, interviewing family members and pursuing information from the Madison Police Department about its investigation. Madison Hamburg, who was a teenager when his mother died, went on to study documentary filmmaking. The police department initially provided two boxes of materials to the filmmakers late last year - which the pair said were incomplete - before the department reversed course and appealed the commission’s decision in Superior Court. They successfully appealed to the Connecticut’s Freedom of Information Commission, which ruled last year the police department had to turn over its files free of charge to the pair. Madison Hamburg and producer Anike Niemeyer had requested the files while filming the series and were summarily denied by the department. The Madison Police Department is appealing a state judge’s order that it must turn over its investigative files on Hamburg’s 2010 murder to a pair of documentary filmmakers, including Hamburg’s son, who examined the investigation in the hit HBO miniseries “Murder on Middle Beach.” More than a decade after Barbara Hamburg was murdered outside her Madison home, the fight over whether the public should have access to the investigation into her death is continuing to escalate - a fight that could have broad implications for access to cold case files across Connecticut. ![]()

![]() SP II can shut down entire teams if given a bit of breathing room due to the heavy stun sniper rifle, or melee-sniper comboing, and shockingly works well even at level 4 (550 cost). What it needs is a rework to include better ms skills and more sub weapons like its bullpup machine gun or given a beam rifle as a sub weapon to fill in between reloads and more reliable defenses. But from my own experience on the ps4 game the GM Sniper II badly needs a better kit, one good weapon can only do so much. Pretty small sample size, your experience might change during live once the other suits are out. Especially with the ability to hit leg parts hard through gaps in terrain and with an extra 200m range.Īnd that's before we get into the ability to effectively perma-stunlock people at 400-550 cost with quick-switching the sniper rifle and the beam saber as a frontline support.Įdit: I certainly won't complain if it gets buffed eventually though! I've found it to be way more useful than the Cannon II when used by either myself or a teammate in high-rating rated/unrated play. SPII basically requires quick loader parts and firing programs admittedly, but it does do quite a bit of work as long as it can be screened by generals (or even in a couple of cases, raids). I mean, that's where my trial data comes from as well. Also doesn't help that there's plenty of raids that will give it a miserable time like the riders, dom high speed experimental type, and z'gok family. Sp II i'd say is where it's at because theres not a whole lot you can do with it when low on ammo plus theres other supports that can provide support fire and supression for longer periods. Keep in mind this is made with ps4/5 in mind. It's nowhere near as good as when using the 170mm cannon, but it's certainly not Gunner Gundam levels of suffering. ![]() ![]() ![]() SP III is one of the better 400 cost supports now, as long as you toss on Lv3 + Lv1 quick loaders. Early prototype rifle, while fun, is of questionable value. I've had some very good runs with it using the ground type beam rifle. With the buff of the Beam gun way back, that's also a (somewhat) viable playstyle, and the bullpup mg used to work great on it between 400-450 cost (haven't tried that last one in ages though).
